Become a samurai of the Warring States period
After touring the nearby Takeda shrine and the newly open Shingen museum, visitors can come experience what it feels like to be a 16th century Japanese warrior by trying on an authentic samurai helmet ("kabuto") and taking a photo to commemorate their Kofu trip in style!
The nearby Yu-Hime café and Kikyo Shingen souvenir shop sell Yamanashi prefecture's most famous sweet: "Shingen mochi" –rice cakes coated in roasted soybean flour and drizzled in brown sugar syrup–, as well as a more indulgent variation: Shingen soft serve ice cream.
